Aldorn Dispatch
London, 2026 — Behind the Journal

The Perspective.

Aldorn Dispatch is an independent editorial publication based in Clerkenwell, London. It documents everyday nutrition practices, food choices, and weight awareness through field-note observation and evidence-informed editorial work.

The publication was established to fill a gap between academic nutritional research and the daily experience of eating. Neither a recipe publication nor a diet guide, Aldorn Dispatch operates in the space between: the practical, observable, and documentable relationship between food choices and the body over time.

01 — Origin

How the Dispatch Began

The publication began as a private food journal, kept by Eleanor Whitfield during a period of sustained observation into her own eating patterns. The original record — seven weeks of hand-written notes on meals, timing, and the relationship between food choices and energy — was not intended for publication. It became the foundation for Aldorn Dispatch when it was shared with a small group of nutritional professionals who found the observational method instructive.

The journal format was retained in the published version: articles take the form of field notes rather than prescriptions. The editorial voice is observational, not instructive. The subject under observation is always the relationship between food and the body as it appears in ordinary life — not in controlled conditions, not as an experiment, but as a sustained practice of attention.

Aldorn Dispatch is an independent editorial publication. It is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body. Its editorial positions are not influenced by commercial relationships; writers disclose any affiliations that could bear on their subject matter. The publication's independence is its primary asset.

03 — What We Stand For

The Editorial Position

Observation over directive

Articles document what has been observed rather than what should be done. The editorial approach prioritises field notes, recorded data, and personal accounts over directives and routines.

Evidence-informed

Published nutritional research is cited where relevant. The publication does not make claims that exceed what the available evidence supports, and corrects errors publicly when they are identified.

Independence

Aldorn Dispatch accepts no commercial advertising that would influence editorial decisions. Writers disclose affiliations. The publication is funded by its readership, not by commercial partners.

Long-term perspective

The publication focuses on gradual, sustainable changes in food behaviour rather than rapid or dramatic interventions. The subject is weight and nutrition as they appear in ordinary life, over time.
